Why Do We Fear Enlightenment? Part 1 of 3

Whether we are conscious of it or not, many of us at some level fear or otherwise reject enlightenment. Here are some of the most popular reasons for doing so along with the antidote for each of these inaccurate belief systems. This topic is so important and so substantive, I will be splitting this post into three parts so that we have sufficient time and space to discuss it adequately.

Reason #1: I have to give away all of my money and material belongings.

The only thing you need to do to become enlightened is to surrender to your Highest Self, your Most Fully Conscious and Enlightened Self. By doing this again and again, over time you simply become your Highest Self, you embody in each moment your Future Fully Enlightened Self.

Does your Highest Self have money and material belongings?

What is your Highest Self's relationship to money and material belongings?

I would guess that your Highest Self might have a healthy and happy relationship with money and material belongings — appreciating and enjoying them, and using them in service of your soul's highest purpose, without being controlled or owned by them.

Your Highest Self is a wealthy being in every sense of the word — rich in love, in joy, in peace, in purpose, in material abundance. Your Highest Self is not interested in arbitrary, ego-based self-denial.

The Antidote: The path to enlightenment is not about giving away your money and your things. It is about releasing your attachment to them, and allowing the love and wisdom of your Highest Self to guide your relationship to all material things. This frees you up to enjoy your money and possessions more than ever before — without being enslaved by them.
