A couple months ago, I posted on my Facebook page a question about the relationship between money and our spiritual development, and someone commented there is no relationship. While we might sometimes like to believe this to be true — especially if we are not doing well financially — the reality is that our financial situation, like any other important aspect of our life, is directly and profoundly linked to where we are in our process of personal and spiritual development.
Now, this does not necessarily mean that more money = more enlightenment. There are plenty of wounded folks at the top of the economic pyramid who could benefit from our compassion. And, of course, not all money is created equal. How we earn our money is key. Even so, it is still true that there is some relationship between money and spiritual development.
What Is The Relationship?
Our financial life is a mirror of our inner life. More specifically, our finances reflect our level of self-worth, our beliefs about what we deserve, our relationship to our soul's purpose, and our degree of surrender to our Highest Self.
When we heal the wounds that generate feelings of unworthiness, our finances tend to improve. When we align our work with our soul's purpose, financial flow tends to increase. When we surrender to our Highest Self and follow its guidance rather than our fears, unexpected sources of abundance tend to open up.
This is not a guarantee, and it is not a simple formula. Spiritual development does not automatically produce material wealth. But there is a relationship — a deep, significant, consistent relationship.
Clearing the Karmic Roots of Financial Struggle
In my work with clients, I have seen again and again that financial struggle often has roots in specific karmic imprints — wounds of unworthiness, betrayal imprints, vows of poverty from past lives, persecution imprints that make it dangerous to be seen and powerful and successful.
When these imprints are cleared with compassion, financial situations often change — sometimes dramatically and rapidly.
